- Floating Power Generator
1) This compact floating type wind/current power generating system has a paint containing special fine particles developed to prtect the system from the underwater environment. it protects the underwater part of the float body from corrosion caused by attached seaweeds, algae and barnacles which not only shortens the life of the body but also affects devices installed in the float. lt also minimizes the cost of maintenance for the body, water wheel and windmill, while allowing efficient and stable power generation.
2)The float of this power generating system han a round form. The major purpose of such form is to sllow the adjustment of power generation through the combination of more units based on site conditions, and to quickly accommodate sudden changes of waves.
3)Type B and Type C of this system have a backward rotating horizontal axis type hydro-generator immediately below the bottom of the float so that the round shaped float can maintain a mooring without constantly resisting the natural current. The major purpose of this design is to prevent the round shaped float from rotating slong with natural current, causing lower rotation efficiency of the system's key component, the vertical axis type wind-power generator installed on the top of the float.

When comparing energy density in the air and water, the latter is approximately 1,000 times higher than the former. Therefore with an equivalent output, the water wheel can be smaller than the wind mill.
Item | Spec. | Operation Racio |
---|---|---|
Wind-Power | on-land | 20% |
floating | 50% | |
Solar-Power | 12% | |
Ocean-Power | 40% |
By integrating the power generated on the water with that of an on-land generator, one can anticipate achieving not only a stable power supply, but also greater output up to 100 to 280 kW.
*The on-land power generating system is currently under preparation for development.
